Eid al-Adha or Bakrid is an important 3-day religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide to honour the willingness of the prophet Abraham to sacrifice his young first-born son Ismail (Ishmael)a as an act of submission to the command of God and his son's acceptance to being sacrificed, before God intervened to provide Abraham with a ram to sacrifice instead.

Eid-Ul-Adha was celebrated worldwide on October 26, 2012 including Kerala and Ahmedabad, whereas in most parts of India it will be celebrated on October 27, 2012.
