Artistic Train Stations Worldwide
Colourful, creative and inspirational public spaces replacing mundane metro stations. Catching the train to work every day isn't usually something that conjures up feelings of inspiration, art or beauty. Those lucky Stockholm residents get to walk through awesome cavernous metro stations that look like they're straight out of Tim Burton's next movie project. Subway passengers walk at the Slavyansky Bulvar metro station in Moscow. Around 90 of the city's 100 subway stations have been made over by over 150 artists, who have been allowed to run amok over the last 55 years. Stockholm is not alone in its attention to the plights of commuters lacking inspiration on their daily pilgrimages to CBD office towers. People walk through the Stadion subway station in Stockholm. People use the escalator at the Solna subway station. This is the everyday commute in the Swedish capital. A subway passenger stands on an escalator at the Olaias metro station in Lisbon.
