When it comes to cricket, one cannot stop singing praises for Dhoni. Arguably the best captain of the Indian National Cricket Team, the life of MS Dhoni is not shrouded in mystery at all.

Early Years
Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born in Ranchi, Jharkhand to humble Rajput parents. He received his education at JVM Shyamli where he excelled in badminton and football and was eventually representing the school at club and district levels.

Interestingly, he hadnt played cricket before this, and soon grew passionate while playing with a club as a wicketkeeper. It was his unique style that led him to get selected for the Vinoo Mankad Trophy Under 16-Championship in 1997-98.

His first job was as a train ticket examiner at Kharagpur railway station in West Bengal.

The Journey of a Cricketer

From getting selected to the junior cricket team in 1998 to making it to the Indian National Cricket Team, it has been a difficult journey. However, with his sheer skill he has managed to tide over all obstacles to taste success. Under his tutelage, India won the 2007 World Twenty20, The CB Series in 2007-08 and the 2011 World Cup. With his smashing Test and ODI record, he is considered to be the best among all the Indian captains till date. The Indian Cricket team owes it to Dhonis excellent leadership skills to have led them to win a Test match against Australia after 20 years.

Awards and Accolades

In 2012, Dhoni was announced as the worlds top earning cricketer by Forbes magazine. He is considered to be the 31st richest sportsman in the world, thus passing Sachin Tendulkar in this rank. He has been included in The TIME magazines list of the hundred most influential people of 2011. For his outstanding contribution to cricket, Mahender Singh Dhoni has been a recipient of numerous prestigious awards such as the ICC ODI Player of the Year award for two years in a row, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award as well as the Padma Shri in 2009.

He is married to Sakshi Singh Rawat, a native of Uttarakhand and are known to be very happy together. Their wedding was a hush-hush affair, something that took the media by surprise.
